
Kathryn W. Smith
Kathryn W. Smith, MS is the Director of Learning Technologies and Assessment for ITLC. Prior to this, she was the Assistant Director of Academic Affairs, Foundation Phase at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She received her Master of Instructional Technology from North Carolina A&T State University and wrote her thesis on Team-Based Learning in Medical Education. Her undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education from Elon University. Prior to entering higher education, Ms. Smith taught at a Title I Elementary School in rural North Carolina. She helped to develop the county’s eCoach program which helped train other educators on how to effectively utilize various instructional technologies. She went on to become the countywide eCoach facilitator. Upon entering higher education, she has continued to help faculty members develop skills in incorporating educational technologies effectively in the large and small group classrooms. She has presented at many conferences, including the AMA ChangeMedEd Conference, about how to effectively use technology in the Medical Education classroom.
